Calico Cleaning Has Joined the Jeannie Cleaning Family!
For 17 years, Calico Cleaning has been a cornerstone of the West Michigan community — but its story began with something beautifully simple. In 2009, owner Kathy Merchant started the business from the trunk of her car alongside her 16-year-old daughter Brandy, landing her first two vacation rental cleaning clients through sheer determination and a few cold emails on VRBO. Those two original properties are still Calico clients today. From that humble beginning, Kathy grew Calico Cleaning into a thriving house cleaning operation. She opened the first office in South Haven in 2011, expanded locations multiple times as the team outgrew each space, and ultimately built a team of 20 full-time and 35+ seasonal employees caring for over 200 residential and commercial properties across the region.
As Calico Cleaning joins the Jeannie Cleaning family, we are deeply honored to carry forward the trust, excellence, and heart that Kathy and her team have poured into every home they've touched for nearly two decades. Their legacy isn't just becoming part of our history; it's the foundation of everything we'll build together.

Giving Back
We are a proud member of Cleaning For A Reason, a nonprofit organization that serves all of the United States and Canada. The mission is to give the gift of free house cleaning to women undergoing treatment for any cancer. The goal is to let these brave and strong women focus on their health and treatment while we focus on and take away the worry and work of cleaning their homes– free of charge.
We are among the over 1,200 maid services that donate free housecleaning to women undergoing cancer treatment. Since 2006, our partner maid services have volunteered their time to clean for over 30,200 women – valued at over $10,000,000.

Additionally, we are the leading voice of the profession by advocating for government policies that align with our members’ needs.
Formerly known as ARCSI, a division of ISSA, was created in 2003 by like-minded residential cleaning company owners who wanted to come together and develop resources for their community.
